TAKE BACK THE NIGHT ANONYMOUS STORY SUBMISSION FORM 2025

Take Back the Night, recognized at Georgia Tech for over 25 years, is a time to join with others to speak out against sexual violence. Yellow Jackets swarm to support survivors and show them they are believed and valued in the Georgia Tech community. We invite Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff to share their stories anonymously or to read them themselves at Take Back the Night.

This event is Monday, April 7th at 7:30 pm in the grove adjacent to Divine 9 Plaza (rain location: Student Center - Walter G. Ehmer Theater).

Take Back the Night is sponsored by the Women's Resource Center, the LGBTQIA Resource Center, Student Government Association, Black Culture, Innovation and Technology, VOICE in the Wellness Empowerment Center, and Equal Opportunity, Compliance, and Conflict Management.

CALL FOR STORIES
We are inviting members of the GT community to share their experiences with sexual violence, whether they happened recently or years ago. These can be stories of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and/or stalking and their intersections with various forms of oppression. We invite stories of hurt, survival, resilience, resistance, and healing. Your courage and strength in sharing your story will help survivors know that they are not alone, and that we as a community do not tolerate sexual violence or let it go silently into the night. These submissions can be in any medium — personal story, poem, letter, dance, visual art, etc.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

All submissions are due by 11:59pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025. If you are considering sharing your story but would like to talk with a professional first, please call a confidential VOICE Advocate in the Wellness Empowerment Center. You can reach Sara Cherry at (404) 385-4464, Ariel Jester at (404) 385-4451, or call the 24-hour line at 404-894-9000. If you have concerns about this form or would like to explore other ways to submit your story, contact a VOICE Advocate.

A FEW NOTES ON SUBMISSIONS

* Please do not include any identifying information in your story. Identifying information includes names, student organizations, or any other information that may make it easy to identify a perpetrator or a survivor, including yourself. A VOICE Advocate may remove identifying details from your story at their discretion.

* For the sake of sharing as many stories as possible, we ask that you limit the length of your submissions to 3 pages or less, or a length that takes approximately 5-6 minutes or less to read.

* Stories submitted here will only be used for Take Back the Night 2025 and will not be used for any other purpose.

* It is possible that, due to time constraints, not all stories will be read at Take Back the Night. However, know that your submitted story has been read and is equally as important.
